When starting a text analysis in PlagCheck, you can customize how your document is checked. Each setting in the Checker interface affects how results are generated and displayed. This guide explains all available options to help you configure your scan for the best accuracy and relevance.
Check for Plagiarism
Enabling this option activates a comparison of your text against online sources, academic databases, and previously stored documents in your account. The plagiarism report shows matched passages, sources, and similarity percentages.- Recommended for academic papers, essays, or articles.
- Matches are highlighted in the report with links to detected sources.
- Disabling this option will skip web and database comparison.
Check for AI Writing
This feature detects whether parts of your text were generated using artificial intelligence. PlagCheck’s AI model evaluates linguistic patterns, structure, and probability markers to identify non-human writing.- Displays a probability score (e.g., 82% human-written, 18% AI-generated).
- Ideal for teachers, editors, and academic reviewers verifying originality.
- Can be combined with the plagiarism check in a single analysis.
Search in My Storage
When enabled, this option extends the plagiarism scan to include documents you previously uploaded to your Storage. It helps identify self-plagiarism or repeated content across your own materials.- Searches only within your account’s private storage area.
- No shared or public documents are included.
- Can be disabled if not needed for personal comparison.
Only Latin Characters
This filter ensures that only characters from the Latin alphabet are analyzed. It is useful for users who work with multilingual content and want to exclude symbols or text fragments in other languages (e.g., Cyrillic or Chinese characters).- Recommended when checking English, Spanish, or other Latin-based texts.
- Non-Latin content is ignored during processing.
Exclude References
If enabled, the checker automatically skips text in the “References” or “Bibliography” section, preventing citations from being counted as plagiarism. This option is particularly useful for academic and research papers that include numerous sources.- Detects reference sections based on keywords like “References” or “Works Cited.”
- Ensures plagiarism scores reflect the originality of the main text only.
Exclude In-Text Citations
This option ignores citations enclosed in parentheses or quotation marks, such as(Smith, 2023) or “...”. It helps reduce false positives where properly formatted citations might be flagged as copied material.
- Useful for APA, MLA, or Chicago academic formatting styles.
- Ensures the similarity index reflects unique writing, not cited sources.
Add to Storage
When checked, your document is automatically saved in your personal Storage after analysis. This allows you to access it later, compare it with future submissions, or download the file again if needed.- Recommended if you plan to reuse or track the document’s originality over time.
- You can remove the file from Storage later under the Storage section.
